Configure bent parts and sheet metal bends made to measure

Would you like to plan a bent sheet made to measure, an angle sheet or a bent profile? In the visual METALXACT metal configurator, you select the appropriate bend shape, enter dimensions and material, and check your design in a schematic 2D drawing and 3D view. The preliminary technical check provides guidance on the stored input limits. You can then access the appropriate shop item via “Buy product”.

The editor contains 13 predefined bent part shapes and one template for individual bent profiles. It supports the planning of bent parts and sheet metal bends. Check the price, available versions and ordering options for the respective item. You will find suitable product entry points further down for flat sheet metal blanks, straight metal profiles and tubes.

From bend shape to order

  1. Choose a shape: Select an angle sheet, U-shaped sheet, Z-shaped sheet, cover or another suitable bent part template.
  2. Define the version: Select the material and material thickness. Enter the sheet length, leg lengths, angles and quantity within the available limits. Also check the dimension reference and visible side.
  3. Check the design: Compare the dimensions with the 2D and 3D preview. Read the guidance from the preliminary technical check and correct any highlighted entries.
  4. Continue in the shop: Open the appropriate item via “Buy product”. Check all transferred values, add any missing information if necessary, and check the price and ordering options before purchasing.

Technical note: The flat pattern, area and weight shown in the preview are approximations without bend allowances. The representation is not a manufacturing drawing. Final manufacturability and the bend radius are checked before production. The information on the respective product page is authoritative.

Which bent part suits your project?

The required component shape and the connection to adjacent components are decisive for the selection. An L-shaped sheet forms an angle, a U-shaped sheet encloses three sides, and a Z-shaped sheet connects offset planes. The following links take you directly to the appropriate product groups. Check the suitability for the specific application and the available versions for the item.

Component or application Suitable product entry point
Edge protection for exposed sheet edges and corners Corner guards and edge protection made to measure
Angle sheet, L-shaped bent part and simple connection L-profile and angle sheet made to measure
Edging or three-sided sheet metal profile U-profile and U-shaped sheet made to measure
Offset connection or stepped cover profile Z-profile and Z-shaped sheet made to measure
Window connection and drip edge Window sill and drip flashing made to measure
Cover for the top of a wall or a parapet Wall and parapet coping made to measure
Hat-shaped bent profile with lateral legs Hat profile made to measure
Sheet metal connection at the eaves Eaves flashing made to measure
Side roof edging and gable angle Gable flashing made to measure
Wall connection or internal corner Wall connection and internal corner flashing
Frame profile and edging sheet with multiple legs Frame flashing made to measure
Snow guard wedge as a bent sheet metal component Snow guard wedge made to measure
Box-shaped gutter and roof gutter Box gutter and roof gutter made to measure
Your own combination of legs and bend angles Individual bent profile made to measure

You can find further selection options under Bent parts and sheet metal bends made to measure. There you can check the available materials, thicknesses, surfaces and product variants.

Choose the appropriate material, material thickness and surface

The editor provides material options for steel, aluminium, stainless steel, Corten steel, brass and copper. Not every bend shape can be ordered in every material, material thickness and surface finish. Check your desired combination on the product page before ordering your bent part.

If you would like to have sheet metal bent, the material thickness, leg lengths, angles and sheet length influence the possible version. Make sure the dimension reference is clearly selected for internal or external dimensions. For suitable products, you can also check powder coating in a RAL or special colour. The respective shop item shows the available colours, coating sides and surfaces.

Configure flat sheets, metal profiles and tubes directly

A sheet metal blank remains flat; sheet metal bending creates legs and bend angles. If you need a straight semi-finished product or a flat metal plate, select the product shape directly in the shop:

The respective product pages show which dimensions, quantities, surfaces and machining options can be selected. For additional processing steps or requirements outside the item selection, you can find information under Metal processing and contract manufacturing.

Frequently asked questions about the metal and bent part configurator

What can I configure in the metal configurator?

The visual editor offers 13 predefined bent part shapes and one template for individual bent profiles. You can use it to plan bent parts and sheet metal bends with legs and angles. Configure flat sheets, straight profiles and tubes directly in the respective shop item.

Which dimensions and materials can I select?

Depending on the template and item, you select the material, material thickness, sheet length, leg lengths, angles and quantity. The editor includes material options for steel, aluminium, stainless steel, Corten steel, brass and copper. Check which combination can actually be ordered on the respective product page.

Do my entries refer to internal or external dimensions?

In the editor, you can select the dimension reference for internal or external dimensions. Check this setting together with the leg lengths, angles and visible side. Before ordering, also check the dimension reference and the transferred information on the product page.

Is the 2D or 3D preview a manufacturing drawing?

No. The preview is schematic. The information on the flat pattern, area and weight consists of approximations without bend allowances. Final manufacturability and the bend radius are checked before production. The preview does not replace an approved manufacturing drawing.

What is the difference between a sheet metal blank and a sheet metal bend?

A sheet metal blank remains flat and is cut to the required dimensions. With a sheet metal bend, the sheet is bent to form legs and angles, for example as an L-, U- or Z-shaped sheet. For flat components, select Sheets and plates made to measure.

Where can I see the price and how do I order my bent part?

The visual editor does not display a binding price. Open the appropriate shop item via “Buy product”. Check all transferred values there, add any missing information if necessary, and check the displayed price and ordering options before purchasing.

Can I save my design?

Yes. You can save the design locally on this device and open it again later via “Load design”. The configuration can also be exported as a JSON file. Saving a design does not place an order.

Can I choose powder coating in a RAL colour?

If the selected product and material combination allows coating, you can select the available colours and versions. The options for the respective shop item are binding. You can find further information on Powder coating for metal.

Can I plan an individual bent profile with several legs?

Yes. The template for individual bent profiles allows you to plan your own legs and angles within the input limits. Then open the item for the individual bent profile made to measure and check the available options. The preliminary technical check is not a binding approval for manufacture.

What should I do if my dimensions or machining options cannot be selected?

First check the guidance from the preliminary check and the available options on the product page. For requirements outside this selection, you can request individual processing. You can find information on this under Metal processing and contract manufacturing.

Where do I configure metal profiles, tubes and flat sheets?

Select and configure these products directly in the shop. Use the entry points for Metal profiles made to measure, Tubes made to measure or Sheets and plates made to measure. The visual bent part editor is intended for bent sheet metal components.

Design a bent part made to measure and check it in the shop

Start with the required profile shape, specify the material and dimensions, and compare the design with the preview. Then open the appropriate shop item and check the configuration, price and available ordering options there.
