Properties of angle profiles
Angle profiles (also known as L-profiles ) made of aluminium, stainless steel and steel are a proven solution for numerous applications in trade, industry and interior design. Whether as a finishing edge, support profile, edge protection or connecting element - the L-shaped profiles offer a robust and visually appealing option for creating clean and secure corners, edges and transitions. Thanks to their different material properties, they can be optimally selected depending on the area of application - from lightweight aluminium to stainless steel and high-strength steel.

Advantages of angle profiles made of aluminium, stainless steel & steel
Thanks to their typical 90° angle geometry, L-profiles are particularly easy to install and at the same time offer stability in a wide range of applications.
Aluminium: Lightweight, corrosion-resistant and versatile
- Low weight: Aluminium angle profiles are significantly lighter than steel, which makes them particularly easy to handle - ideal for projects where every kilogram counts, such as in vehicle construction or trade fair construction.
- Corrosion protection: Aluminium is naturally resistant to weathering. Anodised or powder-coated surfaces further increase resistance.
- Simple processing: Sawing, drilling, gluing or welding - aluminium can be easily processed using standard tools.
- Recycling-friendly: Aluminium is 100% recyclable - for sustainable construction with an eye on the environment.
Stainless steel: Robust, dimensionally stable and hygienic
- Maximum stability: Stainless steel angle profiles offer maximum load-bearing capacity and are suitable for load-bearing structures or areas subject to heavy use.
- Corrosion and temperature resistant: Ideal for use in demanding environments such as damp rooms, industrial facilities or outdoors.
- Easy to clean & hygienic: Stainless steel is particularly easy to clean and is often used in hygienically sensitive areas such as food processing or medical technology.
- Durability: The high resistance to external influences and mechanical damage ensures an exceptionally long service life - even with intensive and continuous use.
Steel: Maximum strength and maximum load-bearing capacity
- Extremely resilient: Steel angle profiles offer maximum stability and are ideal for load-bearing structures and areas subject to heavy structural loads.
- Cost-efficient: Steel is generally cheaper than stainless steel and scores with an excellent price-performance ratio - especially for large-volume projects.
- Versatile: Whether in steel construction, mechanical engineering, building construction or bridge construction - steel angles are an indispensable part of industrial production.
- Can be individually finished: Steel can be effectively protected against corrosion by hot-dip galvanising or powder coating - ideal for outdoor applications
Areas of application for angle profiles
The possible applications for L-profiles made of aluminium, stainless steel and steel are almost unlimited. Here are some typical examples:
- Interior fittings & furniture construction: Protective and end edges for shelves, tables, worktops, stairs or floors.
- Construction and architecture: edge protection on facades, skirting boards or as wall connections to prevent wear. In the construction industry, stainless steel & steel angle profiles are also frequently used for load-bearing steel structures, frame constructions or as connecting elements in hall and bridge construction.
- Shopfitting & exhibition stand construction: Decorative frames and stable connections for modular systems.
- Mechanical engineering & plant construction: panelling, guide rails or connecting elements.
- DIY & home improvement projects: For reinforcement, design or stabilisation - depending on the load, aluminium, stainless steel or steel is the right choice.
Surface variants - bright, galvanised, anodised or polished
Metalxact offers you angle profiles made of stainless steel, aluminium & steel in various surface qualities - perfectly tailored to your functional and visual requirements.
Steel profiles - solid and functional
Steel angle profiles are usually supplied untreated, galvanised or powder-coated. Raw steel is particularly economical for indoor areas without corrosion requirements. Hot-dip galvanised or coated steel, on the other hand, is ideal for outdoor use or visually appealing applications.
Stainless steel profiles - robust and elegant
Our stainless steel construction elements are made from stainless steel V2A 1.4301 (X5CrNi18-10) and comply with standards similar to EN 10056-2 and EN 10088-3. Angle steels offer excellent corrosion resistance and are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.
Available variants:
- Bright/raw: The untreated surface shows the natural appearance of stainless steel. Ideal for structural applications where functionality takes centre stage.
- Polished/brushed: The matt brushed surface (e.g. 240 grit) gives the profile a high-quality, even finish - particularly popular for visible applications in furniture, shop fitting or interior design.
Aluminium profiles - lightweight and versatile
Our aluminium angle profiles are made from the high-quality material EN AW-6060 (alloy AlMgSi0.5) and meet the requirements of the EN 573-3 and EN 755/-1/-2/-8 standards. They are easy to process and are suitable for numerous applications - from construction to design.
Available variants:
- Bright / untreated (press-finished): The untreated aluminium surface is functional and economical. Particularly suitable for technical applications or concealed installation locations.
- Anodised (E6/EV1): The silver-coloured anodised coating not only offers additional protection against corrosion, but also an elegant look - ideal for demanding applications in visible areas and for the targeted visual enhancement of components.
Powder-coated L-profiles for all metals
All our angle profiles - whether made of steel, stainless steel or aluminium - are also available powder-coated on request. The coating protects against corrosion, improves the appearance and is available in over 1,500 RAL colours. Ideal for exterior and interior areas with special design requirements. Whether for façades, furniture or customised special solutions - the powder-coated angle profiles offer maximum design freedom and a high-quality, robust surface.
