Aluminium flat profile in customised dimensions - robust, lightweight and corrosion-resistant

An aluminium flat profile is a flat, rod-shaped semi-finished product made from the high-quality aluminium alloy EN AW-6060 (AlMgSi0.5), which is characterised by its low weight, high stability and corrosion resistance. Thanks to these properties, the aluminium flat profile is suitable for a wide range of applications - from precision mechanical engineering and modern furniture and interior design to individual DIY projects. Whether as a load-bearing element, cover or decorative moulding: The aluminium flat profile is easy to work with and can be flexibly integrated into a wide range of design concepts.

Advantages of aluminium flat profiles

  • Light and stable: The material has a high strength with a low dead weight.
  • Corrosion and weather resistant: Suitable for indoor and outdoor use.
  • Dimensionally stable: Does not warp, even with temperature fluctuations.
  • Easy to process: Can be sawn, welded, drilled, milled or anodised without any problems.
  • Good thermal and electrical conductivity: Ideal for technical applications.
  • Versatile: Mechanical engineering, furniture construction, modelling and more.
  • Attractive surface: Natural, powder-coated or anodised for a clean finish

Areas of application for flat bars

Aluminium flat profiles are used in numerous industries and projects. Thanks to their combination of stability, low weight and easy processing, they are suitable for a wide range of applications:

  • Industry & mechanical engineering: Ideal for frame constructions, covers, brackets or guides. Aluminium impresses here with its dimensional stability and durability.
  • Interior design: Perfect as skirting boards or design elements. The smooth surfaces ensure a modern, high-quality appearance.
  • Electrical & vehicle construction: Used for housings where precise processing and weight savings are crucial.
  • Construction & architecture: Suitable for façade elements, decorative mouldings, stair nosings or outdoor structures thanks to its high corrosion resistance.
  • Hobby & DIY: Popular for customised constructions - easy to cut, drill and install.

Whether for professional or private projects - aluminium flat bars impress with their versatility, precision and a clean finish in every application.

FAQ: Frequently asked questions about aluminium flat profiles

What is the difference between an aluminium flat bar and a flat profile?

Both terms refer to the same product: a flat, elongated semi-finished product made of aluminium. "Flat bar" is usually used in the trade, "flat profile" is the technical term.

Which aluminium alloy is used?

Our flat profiles are manufactured from EN AW-6060 (AlMgSi0.5) with the material number 3.3206. This alloy combines good strength with excellent surface quality and corrosion resistance. Due to the natural oxide layer of the aluminium, the material is already well protected and is ideal for construction, machine and decorative applications.

How is the aluminium flat profile cut to size?

We use precise metal circular saws with high cutting speeds, especially for aluminium. This produces clean, burr-free cut edges that can be processed immediately. Angle cuts, defined length tolerances or additional processing such as drilling holes are also possible on request.

Is powder coating possible for aluminium flat profiles?

Yes, our Flachalu products are also available with a powder coating. This form of surface treatment provides additional protection for the material and ensures a high-quality appearance. This makes the material particularly suitable for use in visible areas or outdoors. In the Metalxact online shop, you can order the powder coating directly in various RAL colours.

Can aluminium flat profiles be anodised?

Yes, our flat profiles can always be anodised. During anodising, the natural oxide layer is reinforced in a controlled manner, resulting in a particularly resistant and decorative surface. Anodised flat profiles are often used in architecture or in visible interior and exterior areas.
